When do filter changes make sense?
Filter changes are often a major cost item in metalworking companies. Therefore, the desire to save costs here is understandable. So how often does a filter have to be changed? This depends entirely on the intensity of use and the device:
- There are devices in which the filter is automatically cleaned in the system
- and there are devices with disposable filters
With intensive use, we recommend devices with filters that are cleaned - the filters are more expensive, but the change takes place less often.
A filter system indicates when a filter needs to be changed. The filter system measures the differential pressure before and after the filter. This enables the system to recognize whether the filter is full of dust particles or not. So whether air can still flow through the filter material, or whether a dense surface has been created by the dirt and dust. The filter is then cleaned accordingly or has to be replaced immediately. If cleaning no longer achieves cleaning, the filter must also be replaced here.

Depending on the device, the filter can be changed monthly or annually. However, the filter should be changed at the latest during the annual ventilation check of the system. If the filter system does not indicate a filter change within a year despite being in use, it is possible that the filter has leaks in the filter material. So holes have arisen - and the system does not recognize a “full” filter at all. Therefore: Like the inventory - change at least once a year!
